Motril City Hall

In the center of the Costa Tropical of Granada, privileged between Malaga, Almeria and Granada, is the city of Motril. Second city of the province with 60,887 inhabitants, divided between the cores of Motril, El Varadero, Torrenueva, Calahonda, Carchuna, Puntalón, Playa Granada, Las Ventillas, La Garnatilla, La Perla and La Chucha.

We can reach the city via the A-7, that links Barcelona to Cadiz, or from Granada on the A-44.

Its privileged location, just a few minutes from the sea, 45 minutes from the Alhambra and an hour and a half from Sierra Nevada, makes Motril an unique place rich in variety. Sun and sand, snow and cultural tourism. This makes it possible to think of the city as ideal base for exploring the area of Granada and the coast, which include other populations such as Salobreña and Almuñecar.

Motril CityThe city's climate is mild throughout the year, so that besides the summer, is a perfect place to visit during the fall and spring. Motril has 20 km of coastline, where we find 8 beaches for all tastes, for tourist as Calahonda, Torrenueva,  Playa Granada and Playa Poniente, virgins as Carchuna and El Cañon and naturists as La Joya.

Motril has also, with attractive monuments and churches of La Encarnación, Victoria or Virgen de la Cabeza, saint whose feast is celebrated on August 15, among others, the house of the Countess Isabel Torre and several museums, the Sugar Factory del Pilar or Motril History Museum. Moreover we can emphasize in their natural surroundings as Suárez Pond or Forest Park Cerro del Toro.
